Over 55s - CAN Project (Live for Adventure)

12-Week Programme

The Connecting Actively to Nature (CAN) Live for Adventure programme is 12 weeks of outdoor activities for people aged 55 and over who are residents in Torbay. This exciting programme is a great way to explore Torbay and the surrounding area while meeting new people, trying new things and getting fit.

Activities include Bushcraft, Archery, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Indoor Climbing and Coasteering. We aim for two sessions of each activity over the programme; the order of which will be decided based on weather and suitability of conditions each week.

All of the specialist equipment is provided, so all you need is a sense of adventure and a basic level of fitness. The programme aim is to reintroduce people to adventure and activity, so if you are already super fit and sporty, this may not be for you.

The course is heavily subsidised by Active Devon & Torbay Council, as part of the Connecting Actively with Nature project, but we do ask for a £5 per session contribution from participants, so £60 for the 12 weeks.

Please see upcoming course dates below. For more information on the CAN project across Devon, click HERE.

Meet new people!

CAN Alumni Sessions

New for 2023, we are thrilled to launch some follow-on sessions for previous CAN Live for Adventure attendees.

Once a month from April to August, we will be running a 3 hour session. Activities will depend on the weather forecast but we aim to make the most of the presenting weather in the hopefully warmer summer months. Activities could include coasteering, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, giant SUP, raft building, bushcraft, archery and indoor climbing.

Participants must have attended a previous CAN Programme to participate. You don't need to have done the specific activity before

All of the specialist equipment is provided, so all you need is a sense of adventure and a basic level of fitness. The aim of the sessions are to provide opportunities for people to continue the adventurous activities introduced through the CAN alumni programme and build and maintain local social connections.

The course is heavily subsidised by Active Devon & Torbay Council, as part of the Connecting Actively with Nature project, but we do ask for a £10 per session contribution from participants.

Try new activities!
